Inspiration from Animal Crossing

Sometimes the best guidance comes from where you least expect it.

I'm convinced that Animal Crossing is one of the best games of all time. Not only is it easy for people to pick up, but it's also hard to put down! Releasing a new game during the pandemic really showed people how addicting this fun little fruit-collecting world could be.

It serves as a place to meet with your friends in a safe way and decorate to your heart's content!

(even if it's with balloon furniture, you do you!)

There are these little snippets of the game that just hit you sometimes. Sometimes it feels like a friend talking to you, helping you through something. I've been playing Animal Crossing since it came out. I first played it on the GameCube by Nintendo, then in the later versions played on the Nintendo DS, and eventually the Nintendo Switch.

(My character's style was constantly ebbing and flowing, much like real me!)

(Of course, Nic Cage made an appearance when I pranked my boyfriend by decorating his front yard!)

But there have always been times I've read some character dialogue and felt it resonate.

The first photo I shared shows a fortune-telling character saying "And remember that bad times... are just times that are bad." The first time I read that character saying that it felt like I could get over whatever obsessions I had at the time. Sort of like a "This too will pass" philosophy.

A good way to use this advice is to reflect on what's going on in your life. Is there a big test coming up that you're nervous about? Ultimately, how bad is it? Remember that you have an entire lifetime to bounce back from small pitfalls (Animal Crossing reference)!

I think I've taken the things the characters say to heart and try to live the way they do in a sense. They're so encouraging!
