Apple Arcade - Worth it?

I'll delve into my experience with Apple Arcade and why I got & kept it!

Apple Arcade

You've probably heard in some form about Apple Arcade by now. It was released in 2019 as a subscription-based game catalog. The catalog features well-designed games that eliminate the ever-annoying ads/pop-ups you usually tolerate when playing mobile games.

Only available on iOS, the Arcade can be accessed via iPhone, MAC, iPad, or really any other Apple product. This does limit the Arcade's accessibility, which we all know is a big NO-NO for me. I have all Apple products, so I can access it, but some of my friends cannot. The only thing I can say in terms of accessibility is that some games on the Arcade are still available in other places. Only a small percentage are exclusive to iOS & the Arcade.

Will they ever stop???

As dueling corporations do, Google announced Play Pass shortly after Apple announced Apple Arcade. Play Pass does offer the solace of no ads during gameplay, or in between, but does not offer exclusive games (as Apple Arcade does).

That being said, I thoroughly enjoy Apple Arcade for numerous reasons.

One, because I have access to it all the time. (on my phone/iPad)

Two, because the games are really well made.

Three, because it's only $4.99/month. That's $0.16/day!

So, if you have Apple products already, and want to start trying out some games, my advice would be to sign up for the free trial of Apple Arcade! This way, you know that you're playing quality games and you'll be giving mobile gaming a fair shot.

If you go into dabbling with mobile gaming and just download any old app, you may have a bad experience simply based on the fact that it's a poorly designed game, has lots of ads, or is overwhelming!

Apple Arcade takes care of those worries and puts you in the best position to experience games putting their best foot forward. The developers get a chance to shine here and show their best work!

There's also something for everyone in the Arcade catalog. I'm not much of an intense gamer, I'd consider myself casual. I mostly like to play games that are relaxing and don't increase my blood pressure... But my boyfriend is the opposite, and we can both find games on the Arcade that we love!

So clearly, I LOVE Apple Arcade, and I won't be parting with it any time soon. Even as a poor college student, it's worth the $0.16/per day to be able to access lots of quality games that I can play in between the MILLION things I have going on all the time. After all, your time is precious - don't spend it watching ads!
